About us

Viam is a software platform that simplifies turning great ideas into smart machines in production. Founded in 2020 by Eliot Horowitz, Viam is headquartered in New York City. Previously, Horowitz co-founded MongoDB, where he wrote the core code base for the pioneering database and led the engineering and product teams for 13 years as CTO.

Viam makes it practical to start building any smart machine, working with whatever hardware you want in whatever programming language you like. Viam lets users configure & build, code, manage & scale, and do more with their smart machine fleets in the cloud, all from a single platform. Viam is designed so your code can run on the smart machine, in the cloud, or anywhere you want. All Viam services are designed to work with great, poor, or even long periods of no connectivity.

By making smart machines more accessible, Viam is attracting talent and investment to the industry so that more people start working with these machines to build products and services that improve our world.

Viam is your road to smart machine success. What will you build?
